Questions before you book
What is a head spa session?
It is scalp care in a quiet room: a look at your scalp, a cleanse, a massage and a rinse. At Root you stay dressed and sit in a reclined basin chair.
How long is a session?
Thirty, sixty or ninety minutes. Most people start with sixty. Add-ons lengthen the visit by the time shown on the menu.
Do I need to wash my hair first?
No. Come as you are. The cleanse is part of the session.
Is my hair type welcome?
Every texture is. We work with coily, curly, wavy and straight hair, and around braids, twists and locs. Tell us when you book and we will plan around your style.
What should I wear?
Whatever you like. You stay dressed, and we give you a cape and a towel. A loose collar is easiest.
Can my family come too?
Yes. Book two sessions back to back and the second guest waits in the salon. Scalp care is for guests 12 and older; a parent books for anyone under 18 and stays in the building.
Is the steam add-on right for me?
It is for guests 18 and older. If you are pregnant, have a heart condition, or have been told by your doctor to take care with heat, ask your doctor before you add it. You can skip it and still have the whole session.
Can I use my phone?
Please keep it on silent and don't take photos of other guests. The room is a quiet one; if you need to take a call, step out to the salon.
How do gift cards work?
A gift card works for any amount and any session or add-on. Buy one online or at the desk.
How do I move or cancel a visit?
Tell us at least 24 hours ahead and we will move it. The policies page explains what happens with shorter notice.
