Our policies
What to know before you book. Prices are set by the salon and shown on the booking page.
Booking and deposits
Book online, or call the salon and ask for Root. We don't take a deposit, and you don't need a card to hold a time. Tell us when you book about braids, twists or locs, and anything you'd like us to avoid.
Canceling and running late
Please tell us at least 24 hours before your time and we will move it or cancel it without trouble. If you arrive late, we shorten the session so the next guest isn't kept waiting.
If you miss an appointment
If you miss a visit without telling us, we will call to offer another time. After a second missed visit we may ask for a card to hold future bookings, under the terms shown when you book.
Children and companions
Scalp care is for guests 12 and older. A parent or guardian books for anyone under 18 and stays in the salon. Families can book back to back, and a companion is welcome to wait at the front of the salon.
Patch tests and allergies
Tell us about allergies and sensitivities when you book and again before we begin. We can tell you every product we use, and we will leave out any you'd rather avoid. If your scalp is sore or irritated, we will talk about whether to wait and may suggest you see a doctor first.
If you're not happy
If you're not happy with a session, tell us within a few days and we'll make it right.
Tipping
Tips are welcome and never added to your bill. Leave one at the desk or on your card for whoever looked after you.
Pressure, consent and stopping
We ask how firm you like it, and about any area to avoid, before we begin, and we check in as we go. We work with bare hands on your scalp, temples, neck and shoulders, and you stay dressed. We stop whenever you ask.
Using the thermal areas
We have no sauna or steam room. The only heat is warm water, a warm towel and a small hair steamer for the steam add-on, which is for guests 18 and older. You stay in your clothes, with a cape and a towel. If you are pregnant, have a heart condition, or have been told by your doctor to take care with heat, ask your doctor before you add steam. Tell us if you feel dizzy or unwell and we'll stop.
Phones and quiet
Please keep your phone on silent in the scalp-care room and don't take photos of other guests. The room is a quiet one; if you need to take a call, step out to the salon.
